Something for Me - Birth Stone Bracelet

My usual computer system is down for the count and the loaner runs as fast as a wet weekend so I turned to actually doing some mailling! I know, shock horror.

Anyway I just took delivery of some very nice and shiny sterling silver, and decided I deserved a piece of jewellery.....I mean the man has decided since I now make jewellery he no longer needs to buy me any (silly boy) so it is all up to me.

This is the end result. The swarovski crystals represent my 4 children's birth stones...Diamond, Turquoise, Aquamarine and Emerald. The little lizard clasp is our "5th child" Amos, a bearded
dragon. Overall I am pretty happy with the end result.

Golden Helms

I was lucky enough to be asked to make a set of jewellery pieces as gifts for a customer's wife....lucky wife I say! It consisted of 3 pieces, earrings, bracelet and necklace in Gold Filled and Argentium Silver.

Here are the finished items.

Earrings with Topaz Swarovski Tear Drops

The bracelet.

And finally the matching necklace. I added an extention chain with a topaz Swarovski Crystal to match the earrings.

And the comlete set altogether.

Moving Again...arrggghhh

Yep, on the move again. This will be the third move in 2.5 years. It's exhausting and very hard on the kids. They are only little moves distance wise, but packing up a house with 6 people in it, all their bits and bobs is a huge undertaking.

So once again I pack away my mailling tools.....just as inspiration hits. It's been a while since I felt like I HAVE to create something or I am going to explode....and so many ideas....but I just can't allow myself to get involved in mailling....the house would never get packed up.

Here's a quick and nasty image of the last piece I created before packing everything up. A Fine Silver Plated and Anodized Aluminium bracelet in the Shenanigans Weave. A very fun piece to wear.

New Maille

Thought it was time to upload some of the images of the pieces I made to sell at the Glenbrook Markets . I've been slowly loading them into my Etsy Store.

These earrings are made using a weave known as Tao 3. I had never attempted this weave before making them for the markets, but am pretty happy with the result.

Another new weave for me called Vertebrae (thanks to Curt of C&T Designs for the hint). I have this currently in two colours (tuquoise pictured) and a violet one. Hope to make other colours. Very slinky bracelet.

Where has the time gone?

So it's been an embarrasing amount of time since my last entry. I knew I would suck a this, just didn't realise I would do this badly.

So Aussie Maille is thrumming along, can't retire just yet....but it's in the plan!

Also ventured into markets recently. So if you are at the Glenbrook Markets I would love to hear from you.

I have been making these fun bracelets to sell at the next markets on 18th April.

Stretchy Half Persian 3in1 in Anodized Aluminium and EPDM (rubber) rings.

And here are some made from the same rings but in the byzantine weave. These bracelets all have some stretch to them so no clasp is needed, they just slip over your hand.

All these rings can be purchased at Aussie Maille if you would like to make your own. I hope soon to have some completed bracelets up on my etsy site for purchase.

Fun with Anodized Niobium

Just wanted to share some pictures of pieces I have created recently using the Anodized Niobium I sell at Aussie Maille.

This is a necklace with a Japanese 12in2 pendant and handmade chain. The niobium rings are from the Fire Mix I stock, and the silver rings are actually plated. It's a stunning piece of jewellery and one my daughter tried very had to convince me to give to her.

Again another Japanese 12in2 weave (such a versatile weave) this time as a flower. The niobium is from the Water Mix.

And just to prove I can do weaves other than the Japanese ones, here is a pair of earrings in the Double Vision weave. This time the Anodizied Niobium used is from the Peacock Mix .

Things have been a tad crazy

and as usual I neglected my poor blog...I'm sorry!

So not only am I insane enough to take on a chain maille jewellery business, but I have expanded my reach to include a chain maille supply business! I am now pleased to announce that I am the Australian Distributor for Spiderchain .....so I now would like to introduce Aussie Maille. Still in it's infancy, but we are pretty proud of it.

So lots of effort and time have been going into that site.....hopefully soon the madness will settle and I can get back to mailling.
